When wrestlers ride off into the sunset, fans don’t know much about what’s going on because they’re mostly out of the spotlight. Fans don’t know and they don’t see the struggles they have to go through post-career – both mentally and physically. Fans don’t see how detrimental the effects of CTE (Chronic Traumatic Encephalopathy) are.

Thankfully, there is a lot more research and information with regards to the treatment of concussions. But the fact of the matter is that for decades, wrestlers relied on alcohol and painkillers on a regular basis. That’s why this current generation of WWE superstars will generally have much longer life spans (apart from the more professional approach towards health now).
