#5.) It was created for Andre The Giant
Andre The Giant passed away in early 1993. Less than two months later, WWE announced on RAW that Andre would become the first and sole inductee into the WWE Hall of Fame. There was no ceremony or any such thing. It was simply a video package announcing his induction. It would slowly evolve into the ceremony later on, but Andre was the start of the tradition.
Frankly, we can’t think of anyone more deserving to be the first inductee. If you’re interested in winding back the clock, the WWE Network has an edited version of Andre’s induction, where Renee Young and Gene Okerlund do the voiceovers and comment on it.
