#1.) vs Will Ospreay – Sakura Genesis 2018
Will Ospreay’s first major defence of the IWGP Jr. Heavyweight title came in the April show Sakura Genesis. Ospreay needed to prove that he was the new guy in the division and faced The Villain. Both competitors put their bodies on the line and dished out severe punishment to each other.
It was a brutal affair, with Scurll being the nasty heel and Ospreay making the babyface comebacks. Ultimately, after an all-out war, Ospreay did win and retain the title and the match raised the stock of both competitors in NJPW and the wrestling world.
