The story of the match was of how Marty Scurll had never beaten KUSHIDA, going 0-3 against him. The stakes were high in this match-up as it was for the vacant IWGP Jr. Heavyweight title. The two competitors did a great job telling the story, as KUSHIDA sold his fingers like death, preventing him from even getting the hoverboard lock.
It was a well-paced, technical match-up and they built it up well with plenty of nearfalls. It ended short of 20 minutes, with KUSHIDA beating Scurll again, going 4-0 against him and capturing the IWGP Jr. Heavyweight Championship.
