The pipebomb is an example of a promo that shot a superstar in an upward trajectory. It was one of the rare instances where a superstar basically broke the fourth wall and started speaking his mind, seemingly out-of-character. It fell under the “Worked shoot” category, but listening to Punk go off on the mic on John Cena, WWE management and even the fans was quite a shocker and fans understood that they were witnessing something special.
It was one of the greatest promos in WWE history and made Punk vs Cena the hottest feud in all of wrestling.
