#5.) The origins of his name
Believe it or not, Mick Foley isn’t a fan of the name ‘Dolph Ziggler’ as he feels it holds him back. While it’s easy to blame WWE, the fact of the matter is that Ziggler came up with his own ring name!
Initially wrestling as Nick Nemeth in the developmental territories, he would then go by the name “Nicky” during his time with the Spirit Squad. As we know, their run didn’t last particularly long and they were sent back to OVW. This was where he was repackaged. The name “Dolph” is a tribute to his grandfather, which seems fine. The “Ziggler” simply came from his friend pitching the name to him. He liked the surname a lot so Dolph Ziggler was the name that he went by ever since.
Hard to agree that it held back his success as he’s racked up multiple accolades through the years.
