On his latest episode of The Steve Austin Show, Steve Austin answered questions called-in from listeners. Austin addressed one person who he’s never competed against but would love to face, future of the WWE Network’s Stone Cold podcast, what territories he would have loved working for, and more.

Here are some highlights.

On competing against one person who he’s never faced:

“I gotta say Hulk Hogan. Because, one of the biggest draws in the history of the business. Everybody thought that match between ‘Stone Cold’ Steve Austin and Hulk Hogan should have happened a couple years back and never did. Just for whatever reason, I didn’t feel like stepping back in the ring. I think Hogan was ready to go, but I wasn’t. And so, I never got a chance to wrestle that guy, and it would’ve been fun to be in the ring with him, because I was watching an old match on YouTube between Paul Orndorff and Hulk Hogan, and I watched how Hulk Hogan was down there on that mat and he was just selling his a** off. Paul Orndorff was just kicking the snot out of him, and then finally, finally, finally after all this heat, started making that trademark comeback… He started firing up that comeback, the people started going crazy, and I realized that guy wasn’t born on top, he worked his tail off to get to the top. So I’d say Hulk Hogan right off jump street.”

On the future of the Stone Cold Podcast:

“I don’t know… We signed up for twelve of those, did twelve, and then we stopped. So, we’ll see if talks continue and sign that thing back up, or do not. But, we fulfilled them, and we stopped.”

Territories he wanted to work for while they were hot:

“If I had to pick, I’d go Mid-South, because I wanted to work for Bill Watts when he was a creative force that he was, and that whole territory was just running white hot. And they had some of the best d**n workers there, and it was just a kick-a** style, and Jim Ross was just cutting his teeth on learning the broadcast business. Everyone there was just on fire. But then, man, when you talk about the NWA. They had that mystique just kind of like nobody else did. And both territories, back in the day, this is when wrestling was really perceived as being real to myself. So, I bought in, hook, line, and sinker because of the believability factor, because of they way they were presented. It was presented like a shoot, like it was a d**n sport. And wins and losses mattered, and good guys and bad guys. The good guys were selling, the bad guys were getting heat. Heat existed, kayfabe existed. And so, I would pick those two territories in the mid-80s.

Austin also talked about how he was inspired by William Regal, getting ribbed on live TV, and more.
