As noted, WWE.com released the following statement earlier this evening:
“WWE has come to terms on the release of WWE Superstar Austin Aries. WWE wishes Aries the best in all of his future endeavors”.

While not confirmed, the above Tweets could indicate Aries requested his release from the company, as the banana emoticon might be a reference to his character and gimmick in the WWE Cruiserweight division.
