My latest post on Upgruv.com features my good, bad and ugly of WWE RAW and SmackDown Live. Here’s an excerpt:
Goldberg’s appearance on Monday night was handled as best as could be expected. Ratings reflected that. Showing clips of him throughout the show was a simple and smart mechanism to build interest. It served to educated newer fans about Goldberg’s career.
The man himself smacked a home run with his promo. Raw (pun intended) emotion could be felt.
That wasn’t always the case with Goldberg. Back in 2003, he always came off obligated. This past Monday, he absolutely came off passionate.
The key will be maintaining this momentum until the match, which everybody assumes will be at Survivor Series in November.
On Monday night, fans gave Goldberg an off the wall pop. However, I’m waiting to see how they react if and when Goldberg is put in the situation of verbally jousting with Paul Heyman (with Lesnar by his side). Perhaps the best thing that can be done is to avoid having all of them in the same place at the same time until the match or the first scuffle breaks out.
Jericho/Owens Heating Up
The chemistry Chris Jericho and Kevin Owens have developed is strong. Two different types of heels and personalities that are working together. In professional wrestling, there is a beauty and ugliness to just tossing things against the wall and seeing what sticks. More than an example of beauty, Jericho and Owens have stumbled upon entertainment greatness. The payoff of when the wheels finally come completely off and the first strike is thrown is going to get a big reaction.
Speaking of a big reaction, how OVER is THE LIST? I mean really. It’s a f***ing list. When Jericho puts a name on it, you hear one of the biggest pops of the night. I love it!
Wyatt
Bray Wyatt being rolled out to the ring and sitting up in a casket was a strong visual. Cue The Undertaker rumors.
Although brief, Randy Orton versus Luke Harper was good. Harper does such an awesome job of selling with his facial expressions. His faces are unique to his character, but they get across the point.
As for adding Kane into the mix; a Survivor Series match is being built, right?
