NBC4 Los Angeles is reporting the brain of Joanie Laurer, aka Chyna, has been donated to help with chronic traumatic encephalopathy (CTE) research following her death last week.

According to Chyna’s manager, Anthony Anzaldo, her brain is being donated to renowned researcher Dr. Bennet Ifeakandu Omalu, who first discovered and published CTE findings, and more recently was played by Will Smith in the film “Concussion”.

Anzaldo previously told The New York Daily News that they were looking to donate Laurer’s brain to CTE research to see if concussion had an effect on her death. Laurer died at her home last Wednesday at the age of 45.
