Wrestlezone Radio contributor and Pro Wrestling Sheet editor-in-chief Ryan Satin is reporting former WCW/WWE star and NXT head trainer Bill DeMott has considered running for political office to try and bring more attention to stronger DUI laws.
DeMott told Pro Wrestling Sheet that he’s met with the State Attorney’s Office in Florida since his daughter Keri Anne was killed by a drunk driver last year, and he realizes the laws for DUI need to be changed. DeMott said to Pro Wrestling Sheet:
“I’m no politician. I’ve never claimed to be. I don’t aspire to be one. But I will become a politician, I will run for office, if that’s what’s needed. My voice needs to be heard because my daughter’s life meant more than a 15 year sentence in prison for multiple offender of DUIs.”
Demott says he’s not sure what office he might campaign for, but he is doing research to make a move if he decides for fully pursue a political seat. Keri Anne DeMott was killed by a drunk driver in November 2015 after he had veered into her lane and hit her head-on, killing her instantly. DeMott added:
“I’m not sure how it will turn out, but I’m gonna stir the pot and I’m gonna bring attention to the state of Florida. The DUI laws need to be changed and Keri Anne DeMott matters! My family needs to be protected, my daughter needs to be more than a statistic, and something has to change.”
