Shera vs. Abyss
Shera tries to make Abyss dance, but he is having none of that. He begins to stomp on Shera and tosses him to the outside. Shera reverses a chokeslam, but gets him with a side slam and then a headlock applied. Alas, Shera finally gets a piece of offense in and hits a lunging shoulder block.
Abyss is able to reverse another move and hit a chokeslam. Janice gets introduced By Abyss and he swings her at Shera. Shera escapes and hits Abyss with a chokeslam for a two count. James Storm comes down to the ring with a steel chair and tries to hit Shera, but lays out Abyss instead. Shera connects with the Sky High to pickup the victory.
The match was about 5-6 minutes and was not bad. I thought that Shera made some nice improvements on his offensive game tonight, albeit just a few moves. Abyss is a good use of a veteran big man who can help younger guys get over.
There is a reason why he is compared to Kane at times. Both guys know the biz and know how to get other people over. I wanted to see Shera drop the stupid dancing, as it devalues his size and intensity that he SHOULD be showcasing more.
Ethan Carter Owns Jeff Hardy
EC3 said that he makes the title look good. EC3 brings out Jeff Hardy, dressed in a suit with EC3’s face on it and a fathead of the champion.He also says that that he feels the anger and tension between him and Jeff. He orders Hardy to tell the crowd to stop chanting and he abides after much angst.
Rockstar Spud comes out. Spud brings up his past with Carter. Spud said that he needed a job and he would have done anything to get a opportunity hence why he did everything EC3 wanted him to do. Spud said that this the fans love him and he does not need to listen to Carter. He goes on to call EC3 garbage and the crowd joins. EC3 hits Spud and tells Hardy to leave the ring. Spud comes from behind and hits EC3. Tyrus knocks down Spud. EC3 tells Hardy to hit Spud who’s trapped by Tyrus. EC3 continues to scream at him. Hardy knocks down Spud and walks to the back.
Ethan Carter holding this power over Jeff is really good. The suit was absolutely hilarious and he can easily go from comical and critical to intense and intelligent. There is a way that he says things to get under your skin and make you want to hate him. I am not sure there is a better guy out there that plays up to his personality so naturally than Carter does.
I also liked the history with Spud being introduced as a piece to this puzzle. Why? That feud and storyline was so intense and had the crowd naturally root for the underdog. EC3 and Jeff Hardy could be really, really good in many ways and this was a great step forward.
