Before I start, I have to say that in my previous article, I predicted that Wade Barrett and R-Truth would be on the Battleground pre-show, I WAS BEING SARCASTIC WWE! I don’t know whether I want Truth to win just so it takes the crown away from Wade or whether I should be singing ‘God Save The Queen’ to try and ultimately get Barrett’s gimmick over. Sigh.
Anyway, let’s move on to something positive. Cesaro for the past three weeks on RAW has been given time and opportunity to showcase his skills by getting involved in the US Title picture. On the week before last, Cesaro main evented RAW with John Cena for the United States Championship in a 30 minute match where everyone said afterwards, that Cesaro had finally arrived. My question is, wasn’t he already here?
I don’t believe that Cesaro is any different from when he first debuted in WWE. I don’t mean this in a negative way; I believe he was just as capable when he first arrived.
Cesaro has been passed from pillar to post for years. He was seemingly the next big guy, when he was teamed up with Paul Heyman. Unfortunately that didn’t appear to work out. He then moved on to NXT where he continued to showcase his impressive skills, especially in a great match with Sami Zayn. He then returned to the roster in a prominent role with Tyson Kidd where they were able to win the Tag Team Championship.
Due to Tyson’s apparently near fatal injury, WWE was faced with an awkward situation. They couldn’t afford to leave him off TV for over a year and everyone probably expected him to float around the main roster again without any major direction until Tyson’s return. However, Cesaro instantly stood out when he accepted John Cena’s US Open Invitation.
Cesaro has continued to show great feats of strength and agility with numerous uppercuts, close near falls and just the ‘occasional’ suplex. Cesaro is a legitimate freak of nature, he has phenomenal strength. One of my particular favourites is the suplex from the top rope when his opponent is stood on the apron. However, this week on RAW, I was simply gobsmacked when he out suplexed Brock Lesnar by delivering a double German suplex to Rusev and Owens!
