WWE Tag Team Championship Elimination Chamber
The Ascension and The Lucha Dragons start off the Elimination Chamber match tonight. Lucha hit a double backflip and Viktor tosses them to the steel. They fly in the air and chant with the crowd. The Ascension catches Cara and hit a double suplex. The New Day holds Kalisto’s leg and he is able to fight out. Lucha Dragons are both on top of the pod, Cara hits a Swanton Bomb. Kalisto ends up getting neutralized and hit in the groin with the chain. Third team up is Cesaro and Kidd.
The former champs unload onto The Ascension, connecting with multiple double team moves. Kidd goes to Kalisto and Cesaro is able to leap up and hit an uppercut. He hits a superplex and Kidd follows with an elbow. Sin Cara saves the match for the time being. Kidd locks in a Sharpshooter and Konnor is sent to the outside. Sin Cara helps Kalisto, but he is caught by Cesaro. He scales the chamber while more actiong goes on in the ring. Fourth team added is Los Matadores, with El Torito. Kalisto is hanging from the very top of the chamber. He releases himself and takes out a handful of the teams. El Torito gets caught from the top and The Ascension eliminate Los Matadores. They do the same with Lucha Dragons. They work with Cesaro and Kidd until Prime Time Players get into the mix.
They toss The Ascension into the steel a handful of times, eliminating The Ascension. Titus hits a big boot, but Cesaro fights back. He hits Darren Young with a dropkick on the top rope. Titus hits a spinebuster onto Tyson Kidd. The New Day finally come in and all teams are good to go. All three teams hit a linked Suplex. Cesaro and Kidd connect with a Cesaro Swing and a dropkick. Prime Time Players eliminate Cesaro and Kidd with a roll-up. The New Day take over offensively. Darren Young counters and sends Big E into the chamber pod. Titus gets back to his feet and they take out all three members of New Day. Young hits his finisher, but Kofi kicks out at two. Big E catches a clothesline, but hits a belly to belly suplex. New Day retain with Trouble in Paradise and all three men pinning down O’Neil.
This was an excellent chamber match for a few reasons. It was never clustered, which I feared. It was all about building some credibility for The Ascension and Prime Time Players. The New Day is the most consistent thing the tag division has right now. Dropping the titles would be ridiculous and too soon. I really enjoyed the action, how it had great pacing and speed. Every team, aside from Los Matadores, had some nice spots to shine. There was never a moment when I thought it was too much or too little. Logical and very exciting, even though we knew the winners before the match started. There was never a doubt of a title change.
