Stars in Progress: Big Show, Brad Maddox, AJ, Ziggler

Big ShowBig Show – One Step Up

Once the post-HIAC edition of Raw came to a close and Big Show was still the World Heavyweight Champion, you knew WWE had plans to give him a decent run on top. How decent remains to be seen, but I would imagine that depends, in part, on how he develops as the champion in the coming weeks.

For example, if Show pulls a Mark Henry and resurrects his career as a believable monster heel and main eventer, drag it out a while. If things aren't connecting on that level by Survivor Series, you always have Dolph Ziggler as a scapegoat.

WWE could easily be considering this a "last run" opportunity for Big Show, so in either case, I hope they can get the most out of him.

AJ – One Step Down

I'm fine with WWE removing her as GM, I like that we get to see her back in the ring working, but I HATE the extreme level of soap-operishness (coined) this "affair" story entails between AJ Lee, Vickie Guerrero, Cena and Ziggler.

So, note: It's not so much AJ taking a step down as it is the actual angle.

The issue I have with these acting-intensive storylines is that they generally result in cheesy, awkward, and/or very cliche bits. It's hard to suspend your disbelief if you're an older fan.

Even though I'm not a fan of the actual story, I am happy with the result of it. I'll touch on that in a minute.
