Let's get positive! This week, I take a look at what's NOT bothering me in pro wrestling. Additionally, I took a few of your twitter submissions as well. You can follow me on Twitter @RealityofChris and contribute to this feature each week.
#3. Sting's New Role
I have ALWAYS been a huge Sting fan. The "crow" gimmick is one of my all-time favorites and even his recent attempt at a dark "Joker" persona was fun while it lasted. However, I had reservations when he was first given the authoritative role in TNA.
I've always preferred heel characters in those positions. I believe a major contributing factor in the success of the Vince McMahon vs Steve Austin story was the fact Vince was so over as an "evil boss". It's just not near as fun when wrestlers can't beat up on the hierarchy of the company. Additionally, I really didn't think Sting would be able to pull it off that well.
He's changed my mind. It works for him in TNA.
His historic career and resulting credibility is the reason why. Not only do fans have a reason to respect him in that position, but it makes sense other wrestlers would take him serious him as well.
Plus, as much as Vince helped define the Austin character during the late 90's, the reverse should be able to work just the same. Sting as a babyface can help develop the top heels in TNA and that's definitely needed in TNA.
Hell, WWE could even focus on that a bit more.
