Batista Talks Cena
One Step Down
Batista said in a recent interview that John Cena killed "hardcore, edgy wrestling". That's about as idiotic a statement as Chyna saying she has one more match in her. (Insert your own perverted jokes here.)
There's no denying that John Cena is the poster boy for the new "PG era" that wrestling is currently experiencing, but he didn't cause any of it. There's only one man that fingers can be pointed at for the direction change WWE has undergone since the early 2000's. He's the one pulling the strings…or not pulling the trigger as I like to say.
Vince McMahon is the puppet master. John Cena – just like everyone else – is simply on the other end of the strings. Whether it was Linda's Senate run or Vince's warped idea that other major advertisers might take them serious with the "PG" label, he's fully responsible for the current product.
Wrestling fans have become jaded. Unappreciative. Know-it-all's. A majority of them want to knock on Cena because they actually think it's "his" fault that he's shoved down our throats every week. I can understand the heat he gets from fans for that very reason. However, the wrestlers should know better. And I'm going to bet that it's for a very different reason former stars like Batista and Chavo Guerrero ride Cena. Here's a hint: it rhymes with "spellacy".
By the way, you'd be surprised how few words rhyme with jealousy.
