PRESS RELEASE
FOR IMMEDIATE DISTRIBUTION
January 23rd will see the return of IPW:UK to the Orpington Halls, and the first show of the year 2005 will bring a match that will take us one step closer to crowning the first ever IPW:UK British Champion!
Best of British 1 will feature as its main event the “Best of British” match. Questions have been raised within the IPW:UK fanbase about what exactly the “Best of British” match is and who will be competing in it – these questions can now be answered.
The first ever Best of British match will feature 5 combatants fighting under elimination and scramble rules. This means there will be 2 entrants in the ring at any one time; if a competitor should leave the ring, another BOB competitor can enter the ring without needing to be tagged in, just imagine the possibilities!
However, this Best of British match, at the Best of British 1 event on January 23rd will not be the only one. It will however be ‘Best Of British: High Flyers’. Later in the year at “Best of British 2” we will see the ‘Best of British: Heavyweights’. The winners of both of these 5 way elimination scramble rules matches will then face each other one on one to decide the IPW:UK British champion. The winners of the two Best of British matches will also receive £1000, giving even more incentive for them to go out there and give it their all.
The first name announced for the Best of British 1 main event is none other than the little man who has been making HUGE waves on the UK Scene of late, and a man who made his IPW:UK debut at Extreme Measures 2004, Spud! We will be announcing the 4 other names as the weeks progress.
— Best of British 1 will see the best production values for an IPW:UK show yet! The camera crew at Show 2! did an amazing job and want to look to better themselves to an even greater height next time.
— We received word from Robbie Brookside this week that he may not be able to make the January show as he is contractually obligated to fufill some dates in Dubai early next year. This information, however, came from a source close to Stevie Douglas, the former student of Robbie Brookside who turned on his teacher at Show 2!.
“The Next Superstar” is now claiming that if Robbie does not make the show, it is because he is ducking the challenge that Stevie made to Robbie Brookside at Show 2, However if fans remember Robbie Brookside not only accepted that challenge, but told Stevie Douglas that he didn’t want a normal “Wrestling” match, but a German Streetfight!
We will keep you informed on Robbie’s position for Best of British, but we can confirm that Stevie Douglas will be returning!!
— IPW:UK Extreme Measures 2004 (featuring the One Night Progressional tournament, Super Dragon, Jonny Storm, Colt Cabana & many more) is now available on DVD for just £10.00 plus postage and packing. This DVD can also be ordered internationally for the same price equivalent in your currency. For more information email danieledler@hotmail.com with the subject line IPW:UK DVD Enquiry,
