There were vignettes planned for Matt Hardy’s return for some time and at one point. He was offered to take part in the WrestleMania XXI ladder match however he turned it down, as he felt his return would have been overshadowed by being in the ring with five others.
As of last week, he was scheduled to return sometime soon. He has been cleared to wrestler medically however he will now need to wait the 90 day work period for his release, which will be July where he will be able to take independent work or possibly a TNA offer.
Rhyno who was also released with Matt Hardy, also has the same 90 day work period for his release. Which means both stars will be able to take independent work at the same time.
