Giving Thanks
By: Chris â<80><9c>The Authorityâ<80> Schultz
As we approach this Thanksgiving holiday, there is a lot to be thankful for in our lives. We also have a lot to be thankful for in regards to wrestling as well. 2007 saw its share of ups and downs, along with surprises and travesties. Overall, it was a good year to be a fan. I will now attempt to list a couple of things that I personally am thankful for happening in the world of professional wrestling.
First and foremost, Thank God Chris Jericho is back in the WWE. The self proclaimed â<80><9c>Sexy Beastâ<80> made his return this past Monday on RAW and it couldnâ<80><99>t have come at a better time. As I am sure most would agree, the WWE product has been a little stale as of late and I am not just saying this because I am a fan of TNA. Think about the let downs and boring matches we had to endure throughout this year. ECW failed, Hornswoggle became a McMahon, and Smackdown in general are just a few things that made me sick to my stomach. As much as it pains me to say this (and I donâ<80><99>t with harm on anyone), itâ<80><99>s a good thing that John Cena got injured when he did. I am a fan of Cena, but there is only so much I can take when he has the belt around his waist for 2+ years. Enough already!
I am thankful as well for TNA finally getting Impact on primetime television. This was a long time coming and hopefully, down the road, we will be able to witness the second coming (sorry Jericho) of the Monday Night Wars. We have already started to see the mass exodus from the WWE to TNA with the departures of Christian, Booker T, Kurt Angle and others. I am confident Vince McMahon will take notice of the competition and step his game up in an attempt to crush those that oppose him. If he doesnâ<80><99>t, more will follow. I wouldnâ<80><99>t be surprised if Carlito, Victoria, and other members of the WWE roster made the jump in the upcoming year due to the lack of attention they now receive.
I also give thanks for being a part of Wrestlezone.com. No, this is not an attempt to suck up to the powers that be, but you have got to love this website. Just look at the talent that I am surrounded by in Chris Cash, Sean Oâ<80><99> Mac, Glenn Gilberti, Konnan, Scott Hudson, Kevin Kelly, and Nick Dinsmore (Eugene). This is the best site on the net for professional wrestling, bar none. Bias aside, before I even got to Wrestlezone, I was a fan and made my way to the site just about every day. Hopefully, this is only the beginning of what is to come at this site. Stay tuned! You wonâ<80><99>t be disappointed.
I am thankful for the return of Scott Hall and Kevin Nash, the rise of the greatest heel in the business, Randy Orton. I am thankful for the WWE and TNA divas/knockouts and wardrobe malfunctions. (Not referring to the Awesome Kong of course.) Thanks for the return of Triple H, Edge, The Steiner Brothers, and Shawn Michaels from injuries. Thanks for the X-Division, removing Chris Masters from television, and giving us something else to watch during these ugly Sunday and Monday Night Football programs. (I love football, but I havenâ<80><99>t had a great memory from any game I have seen on these nights this year.)
Thanks for Mr. Kennedy, MVP, Robert Roode, and John Morrison who are the future of this business. Thanks for coming to our cities throughout the year to entertain us live. Thanks for getting my mind off the stress and responsibility in my life even if for two simple hours. I love this business. I honestly could not live without professional wrestling. My last big thanks goes out to all you fans out there who read this and know exactly what I am talking about! You are my family! Happy Thanksgiving everyone!
