WWE reportedly rejected several top stars who requested “no-cut” contracts.
Following WrestleMania 42, WWE released several main roster and developmental talent. The list includes notable names like Aleister Black, Kairi Sane, the Wyatt Sicks, and the Motor City Machine Guns. Tonga Loa and JC Mateo also departed the promotion, and reports noted that Kofi Kingston and Xavier Woods mutually agreed on their release.
However, The New Day reportedly chose to leave WWE after the promotion asked them to restructure their contracts. Now, Dave Meltzer noted on the recent episode of Wrestling Observer Radio that there are one or two stars in the company who hold “no-cut” contracts.
He noted that several top guys tried to get themselves similar deals, but WWE had turned down their requests. However, the promotion promised that they would never release them, but didn’t offer to put it in writing.
“I believe that there may be one or two guys with no cut contracts in WWE, but it’s very, very few. And I know top guys who tried to get no cut contracts and they were told no, as they’re told, ‘But we’re never gonna cut you.’ But they still wouldn’t put it in writing.” [H/T Fightful]
Fightful’s Sean Ross Sapp also confirmed Meltzer’s report.
Several WWE wrestlers have reacted to the latest set of releases, and Hall of Famer AJ Styles recently shared that a star’s release shocked him. Booker T also had a pretty straightforward take on Aleister Black’s exit.
