CM Punk packed his WrestleMania 42 entrance and gear with layered tributes.
Punk opened his entrance with Miseria Cantare (The Beginning) by AFI, a track closely tied to his early independent and ROH days. The song also previously appeared during his AEW run, and he had recently teased bringing it back for WWE WrestleMania, which he ultimately did.
His in-ring attire was equally symbolic. Punk wore a white jacket, trunks, and boots, with multiple personal and professional references stitched into the design. Among them was a tribute patch to his late dog Larry, along with the name of Bo Lueders of Harm’s Way on his chest.
Additional details included a Puerto Rican flag representing AJ Lee, a Chicago flag nodding to his hometown, and a crown motif on the back honoring WWE Hall of Famer Harley Race.
The jacket also featured several WWE employees who recently passed away. Kerwin Silfies, Jim Shank and Davey Coates were written on Punk’s right sleeve, the names who all played key roles in the company’s history and Punk’s journey. It added another emotional layer to an already high-stakes moment.
Before stepping into the main event spotlight, Punk paused on stage and made his signature “clobbering time” gesture. Moments later, Cult of Personality hit the arena, signaling the start of his arrival to the ring.
