Maryse’s WWE Return Goes Wrong on SmackDown As Segment Turns Messy

Maryse made her long-awaited return to WWE television on the April 17 episode of SmackDown in Las Vegas, but what was meant to be a celebration quickly unraveled into chaos.

The segment centered around a vow renewal ceremony with The Miz, setting the stage for a feel-good moment ahead of WrestleMania 42. That jovial mood played out until an uninvited guest turned romance into a ringside blooper reel.

Danhausen crashes Miz & Maryse’s vow renewal on WWE SmackDown

The ceremony, officiated by Kit Wilson, began as planned with The Miz and Maryse reaffirming their vows.

However, Danhausen interrupted proceedings, inserting himself into the segment and claiming multiple roles in the ceremony.

As things escalated, Wilson misspoke at a crucial moment, telling Danhausen he could “curse the bride” instead of inviting a kiss.

Danhausen didn’t miss his cue. He immediately declared Maryse “cursed,” continuing a recent streak of similar antics since his debut earlier this year.

The Miz reacted instantly, going after Danhausen. However, in the scramble, Maryse was knocked forward and landed face-first into the wedding cake.

The moment, while messy, added another layer to Danhausen’s growing presence on WWE programming. Reports note his “curse” streak remains intact, now reportedly nine-and-zero, proving he’s been booking chaos like it’s his full-time gimmick — because it kind of is.

For Maryse, the appearance marked her first on-screen role since Evolution 2. She has spent time away to focus on her health and family. The return was clearly meant to reintroduce her alongside The Miz. Nevertheless, the segment’s outcome may have left more frosting than focus on the intended message.

The storyline also continues Danhausen’s ongoing involvement with The Miz. The mysterious superstar has repeatedly targeted the former WWE Champion in recent weeks.

With WrestleMania 42 around the corner, this segment adds an unpredictable wrinkle to The Miz’s road — one that, much like the cake, didn’t quite stay intact.
