On the April 15, 2026, episode of AEW Dynamite, Darby Allin won the AEW World title by defeating MJF. Apart from the win, what was more surprising was that the match ended much quicker than anyone expected.
The night started with confusion backstage. Renee Paquette tried to tell MJF that he had to defend his title, but he ignored her and kept bragging about beating Kenny Omega on Dynasty. However, MJF finally realized he had to wrestle Allin that same night.
The AEW World Champion went to the ring and complained. He said he wasn’t ready and even threatened legal action against everyone, including AEW boss Tony Khan. He also claimed that Allin was not ready for the title.
Allin then grabbed the mic and cut an emotional promo that left many fans in tears. Just when it looked like MJF might avoid the match, Bryan Danielson stepped in and said the match would happen in the main event, and if MJF refused, he would lose his title.

Before the match started, Darby Allin received some words of motivation from the legendary Sting himself.
When the match finally started, MJF tried to cheat by giving up his Dynamite Diamond Ring to the referee, Aubrey Edwards, and then hitting Allin with a low blow. But it didn’t work for long.
Allin did something similar. He shoved MJF to the referee, which distracted her and gave him a chance to land a low blow to MJF.
Then, Allin quickly took control. He hit a Scorpion Death Drop and then delivered four Coffin Drops, one from each corner of the ring. In the end, Allin pinned MJF with a side headlock and won the match.
After the match, the arena was full of celebration. Many wrestlers came out to support Allin. The highlight came when Sting came to the ring and hugged him, celebrating together.
After that emotional promo, this win meant everything for Darby Allin.
