CM Punk Made Up With WWE Because Of This Emotional Backstage Moment

CM Punk says sometimes, the anger and bitterness aren’t worth it. He says an impactful moment captured by WWE cameras taught him that.

Punk was a recent guest on the All The Smoke podcast where he was asked about how WWE has changed since his first run there. Punk went on to explain why he considered a reconciliation in the first place, noting how seeing two WWE legends patch things up showed him why his past grievances weren’t worth holding onto.

“After a while, I was just like I knew he had this heart condition thing, and I had seen a clip of Hogan and the [Ultimate] Warrior. And everything we do is filmed, so [it’s like] what’s real, what’s not? And it’s Hogan, so you don’t know what’s the truth. But they’re just having this conversation and they’re apologizing and forgiving each other. Then a couple days later, the Ultimate Warrior dies. And it’s just like—it made me realize that this s**t ain’t worth it, and I don’t care.

“And I get a call from Nick, ‘Hey, we want you to come back.’ Oh, interesting. Well what does that look like? Is the place different? To bring it back to your question, it’s so wildly different, if it wasn’t, I wouldn’t be here.”

The Ultimate Warrior died on April 8, 2014, two days after his appearance at WrestleMania XXX, where he also made up with Hogan.

During the interview, CM Punk also revealed what (or who) actually inspired his “Pipe Bomb 2.0” promo on last week’s episode of RAW.
