WWE‘s Liv Morgan reveals she had another choice for her ring name.
During her recent appearance on the INSIGHT With Chris Van Vliet podcast, 2026 WWE Women’s Royal Rumble winner Liv Morgan revealed that she had to choose between her current name and Liv Gallow for her ring name. Since she knew there was already a Luke Gallows in the promotion, she chose to go with Liv Morgan.
“I walked into work one day and they were like, ‘Okay, you’re either Liv Morgan or Liv Gallow, pick.’ I was like, oh. I had known we had Luke Gallows at some point in time there, he wasn’t employed in that moment in time when I was there. But I had known of him and his history. So I was like, I’ll be Liv Morgan, and that was really it. I never really liked Morgan, now I like it.”
Later in the interview, Morgan said that she pitched several other names, including Illy Milly and Penny Wap, which was a play on Fetty Wap.
Morgan also revealed that she didn’t like her last name much and simply writes Liv while signing autographs.
“But I remember, first time signing an autograph, I was like, I’m just gonna sign Liv, and that’s all I’ve done. That just stayed with me my whole career. Only because I didn’t like Morgan,” Morgan said.
Liv Morgan wanted to be called Oprah in WWE
During a recent conversation with her on the What’s Your Story podcast, Stephanie McMahon recalled that Liv Morgan initially wanted to call herself Oprah in WWE. Morgan then explained how the unusual suggestion came to life.
“You go into NXT, and they ask what you want to be called. You write a list of names, and they liked none of them. I really wanted to not have a proper name I didn’t want it to sound like a government name. I wanted it to be Illy Millie. So I give a second list, and they say no,” Morgan said.
“I give a third list, and at the bottom I’m like, ‘Any of these will do, or I’ll settle for Oprah.’ For some reason, the Oprah thing stuck, and no one ever let me live it down.”
“Sometimes they’ll see me, and they’re like, ‘Oprah!’ All that, and I still never actually picked my name. I never picked Liv Morgan, I remember not liking Morgan, but Liv was kind of punny. Didn’t like it at first, but it grew on me. I couldn’t imagine having a different name now.” [H/T: ewrestlingnews]
