Chris Jericho’s absence from AEW television has taken another intriguing turn. A new development suggests “Le Champion” may be laying the groundwork for his next chapter — wherever that may be.
Amid ongoing speculation about his future, Chris Jericho has quietly made a move outside the ring that could carry just as much weight as any in-ring return.
Chris Jericho trademarks “Cornerstone” amid uncertain AEW future
It has been revealed that Jericho recently filed to trademark the term “Cornerstone” through his company, Chris Irvine, Inc. The filing, dated March 25, 2026, covers a wide range of uses. These include wrestling performances, televised appearances, online content, and merchandise such as shirts and hoodies.
The filing specifically mentions services such as “providing wrestling news and information via a global computer network” as well as live appearances and interviews.
In other words, Jericho may be building more than just a gimmick. He could be setting the foundation, or rather the “cornerstone,” for a broader brand.
At this stage, there’s no confirmed direction for how the trademark will be used. However, given Jericho’s history of reinventing himself, it wouldn’t be surprising if this becomes his next persona.
The timing of the filing is notable. Jericho has been absent from AEW programming for an extended period. Reports have indicated his contract has been “frozen,” meaning he remains under contract despite being off television. During this time, he has been touring with his band, Fozzy.
Meanwhile, rumors of a potential WWE return have continued to circulate, though no official confirmation has emerged. While speculation points in multiple directions, Jericho’s current status remains unchanged — still All Elite, at least on paper.
As WrestleMania 42 approaches, Jericho’s next move remains unclear. Whether “Cornerstone” becomes a new identity, a media platform, or something else entirely, one thing is certain. When Jericho builds something, it’s rarely a one-off. It’s usually a main event waiting to happen.
