A key update on an NXT star’s condition emerged during the March 24 episode of WWE NXT, adding uncertainty to an already turbulent tag team picture. This development also raises questions about what comes next.
During the broadcast, commentary confirmed that a prominent member of Birthright is currently sidelined following a recent in-ring scare.
Lexis King injury update impacts NXT Tag Team Title tournament
Commentator Vic Joseph stated on air that Lexis King hasn’t earned medical clearance to compete. This came about after the NXT star suffered an injury at a March 20 NXT live event in Lakeland, Florida.
The injury occurred during an eight-man tag team match involving his Birthright stablemates.
Reports indicate King took a knee to the face during the bout and was “knocked silly.” This prompted immediate concern.
The referee reportedly signaled the “X,” bringing the match to an abrupt halt — never a good sign when the action stops before the finish.
Despite the scare, follow-up reports (via Fightful) suggest King is “feeling okay.” The medical ruling is viewed as a precaution while WWE monitors potential concussion symptoms. In other words, he may be down, but not necessarily out.
The timing, however, complicates matters for Birthright. The group has already advanced to the finals of the NXT Tag Team Championship number one contender’s tournament, scheduled for March 31. King had been advertised as a possible competitor alongside Charlie Dempsey, Uriah Connors, and Stacks.
Adding to the chaos, the same live event also saw Elio LeFleur suffer an arm injury. Moreover, reports suggested he was later seen in a sling. On the March 24 episode, LeFleur and Eli Knight were also ambushed backstage, suggesting the fallout from that match is still unfolding.
For now, King’s status remains uncertain heading into a crucial week for Birthright. As the road to Stand & Deliver heats up, this situation proves once again that momentum in NXT can change in a flash — or in this case, in one stiff shot.
