Rob Van Dam Leaves Door Open for WWE Return

Rob Van Dam may be 53, but he is not ready to stop wrestling anytime soon. The former world champion has made it clear that a WWE return is still possible.

His legacy in WWE is undeniable. The former WWE Champion is a part of the WWE Hall of Fame Class of 2021. He is one of the most unique performers in wrestling with his mix of martial arts and high-flying moves. He also held both the WWE Championship and the ECW World Championship at the same time. One of his biggest moments came when he cashed in his Money in the Bank contract against John Cena at ECW One Night Stand 2006.

He was recently seen in WWE during Cena’s last match at SNME in December 2025.

Rob Van Dam says he would consider a WWE return

Van Dam, who last wrestled in WWE in 2014, recently spoke about his future in an interview with TMZ’s Inside The Ring. When asked about a possible comeback or one final match, Mr. Monday Night didn’t shut the idea down at all.

He also mentioned that WWE knows how to contact him, especially since he’s already scheduled to appear at WWE World during WrestleMania week.

“I am open to considering anything. That’s part of being open-minded. I try not to shut anything out without at least considering it, and when it comes to something like that, they got my number, and they can talk to me. As you know, I’ll be appearing at WWE World,” RVD said.

That said, Van Dam isn’t a big fan of the idea of a “retirement tour.” He feels that announcing a final match in advance takes away the natural flow of things.

“As far as a retirement tour, unless I change my perspective, which happens because you always look at it from a different place in life if you keep going, but the way I feel now is that I don’t like the idea of labeling something as ‘retirement’ or I don’t want to know if I’m having my last match, when I am,” he said.

Van Dam was out of action for almost a year due to a serious injury. He suffered two broken heels during MLW’s Battle Riot 2025, which kept him away from the ring for months. Before that, he hadn’t wrestled since April 2024, so his potential return is a big deal.
