WWE legend Stone Cold Steve Austin has given an update on his in-ring status.
Speaking on Busted Open Radio on Austin 3:16 Day, Stone Cold Steve Austin gave an update on his WWE in-ring status. He looked back at his match against Kevin Owens at WrestleMania 38 and noted that he could’ve had a better match at the event if he had more time to prepare.
Steve Austin then confirmed that he’s done as an in-ring performer. While he believes he can still get in the ring there and do something, he’s not actively looking to do that. He noted that he’s honored that people still want to see him compete in the ring.
“I wish when I had that match with Kevin Owens a couple of years ago, that they would have sent me down the ring so I could have got some timing and some wind and a lot of things, so I could have had a better match with Kevin Owens,” Steve Austin said. But yeah, I’m done.
“I could go out and do something. I’m not lobbying to do that. But I guess it’s cool that people would still, and there’s a lot of people that don’t, so the fact that people are still like, ‘Hey man, it would be cool to see him do something.’ I guess it’s an honor,” Steve Austin said.
Steve Austin reflected on his legendary WWE career
Speaking further, Steve Austin shared that he was never the chosen one when he first ventured into WWE. He’s happy that things turned out the way they did after he shaved off his long blond hair, grew a goatee, and adopted the iconic Texas Rattlesnake persona.
“I was never the chosen one. If you lined me up against the wall with all the other WWE Superstars at the time, you know, at 6’1′, before I got 6’2′, before I got dropped on my head a bunch, you know, with that scraggly as* blond hair I had, I was never the chosen one, the one that was, ‘Hey man, this guy’s gonna lead the industry one of thee days,’
“I cut off my hair and grew a goatee, and it turned into something,” Steve Austin recalled. “I was just happy the way it happened and glad that people can remember me.”
When asked who he’d like to have a one last moment with in WWE, Steve Austin said, “Well, sh*t, line them up and let me stun them. All those guys that are selling the tickets now, put them in a line, fu*k em!”
