Rhea Ripley and Jade Cargill are set to collide at WrestleMania 42, but their rivalry may have crossed beyond typical pre-match hype.
The online tension ignited after Ripley won the Women’s Elimination Chamber match, securing a title shot against Cargill.
When a post highlighted that Ripley will compete in her seventh straight WrestleMania — each time in a title match — she confidently replied, “Guess… I’m that bitch?” Cargill quickly countered, calling her the “second option” and telling her to “@ me next time.”
What followed was less playful banter and more verbal steel cage.
Rhea Ripley Sends Strong Message After Jade Cargill Exchange
After Ripley told Cargill, “All you seem to do is talk… And that’s literally it,” Cargill escalated things by suggesting Ripley benefits from creative favoritism. “Talk??? Like the hours you spend talking to creative??” she wrote.
Ripley fired back hard, accusing Cargill of spreading lies and telling her not to “defame” her name. The situation widened when Chelsea Green praised Ripley’s talent, prompting Cargill to snap at Green. Piper Niven then defended Green, criticizing Cargill’s response.
Ripley later addressed the matter directly on Instagram Stories with a pointed message:
“Not having fun.
Not friends.
Learn to work and never lie to defame someone’s real human character by ‘breaking the 4th wall.’”
In wrestling terms, “breaking the fourth wall” means referencing backstage realities. Ripley’s wording suggests she believes lines were crossed.
The backdrop makes it more intriguing. WrestleVotes reported on March 2 that there have been internal rumblings about Cargill’s locker room reputation.
Sean Ross Sapp also noted that Cargill’s name has come up in discussions among talent following injuries to B-Fab, Michin, and Tiffany Stratton, though he clarified there is no confirmed producer-level heat.
Whether storyline or something stiffer, the WrestleMania stakes just rose. When Ripley says she’s not having fun, that doesn’t sound like a scripted soundbite — it sounds like fight night is personal.
