AJ Styles shares his reaction to Danhausen’s debut at WWE Elimination Chamber.
Former AEW star Danhausen made his WWE debut as part of the mystery crate angle at the Elimination Chamber PLE this past Saturday. While fans had polarizing reactions to the debut, it appears some wrestlers also felt that way, and Hall of Famer Ricky Morton had to step in to defend the “very nice, very evil” star.
“I see a lot of “professional” wrestlers dissing the success of their peers. If you f’n work hard, dedicate time to your career, put some effort in a gym, & go get em’. Opportunities will present themselves. Congratulations @DanhausenAD,” he posted on X/Twitter.
The recently retired former WWE Champion, AJ Styles, shared Morton’s tweet, writing, “Well said,” echoing his take on Danhausen’s debut.
Danhausen replied to AJ Styles’ post, thanking him for his support. He even complimented the Phenomenal One, saying he has beautiful hair.
“Thank you Mr. AJ Styleshausen. You have beautiful hair,” he replied.
WWE signing Danhausen was reportedly not a unanimous decision
Speaking on Wrestling Observer Radio, F4WOnline’s Dave Meltzer compared Danhausen’s WWE debut to that of the Gobbledy Gooker’s. He also noted that company officials were split on the decision to sign him.
“I mean, it was the Gobbledy Gooker. That’s what it was. They finally managed to do another Gobbledy Gooker. We’ll see. It’s a weird one, because with Paul Levesque, the way he books, I don’t see where this guy fits (Danhausen) in. He could do the R-Truth thing, but they have R-Truth. You don’t need two R-Truths. I know he’s not the same thing, but it’s just sort of that gimmick mascot guy that doesn’t wrestle.
“If they put him in the ring on a regular basis it would be… they won’t. He’s not their kinda guy. Not saying he’s bad, but in this day and age, to get regular TV appearances, you’ve got to either be an awesome talker – which, he’s a gimmick talker – or you have to be really freakin’ good in the ring, or be a big muscular dude, and he doesn’t fit that,” Meltzer said about Danhausen.
“I would guess that the people who didn’t want him are thinking, ‘Hmm, sure didn’t work out so well this time.’ But in time, time will tell. He’ll get another chance. Maybe he’ll be the Gobbledy Gooker and maybe he’ll be R-Truth – one or the other.” [H/T: Wrestletalk]
