Blake Monroe is great at getting involved in drama, but she wants to tell a more long-form story when the time is right.
Monroe spoke with WrestleZone Managing Editor Bill Pritchard at WWE 2K26 Creator Fest at WWE Headquarters about her current role in WWE NXT. Monroe is known to stir the pot and get under the skin of her opponents. She says that’s a role she was born to do.
When asked about being the center of NXT’s more “soap opera” style feuds, Monroe said she’s always been a drama kid. Monroe said everyone in NXT has a different background, so it’s fun to play with that dynamic on television.
“I’m very dramatic, and I grew up in the arts. I was a drama kid through and through. I did theater, and I think, strangely, in wrestling, I’ve wrestled all over the world, and people had seen that a little bit, but maybe in a more serious tone. So it’s fun to do something a little bit light, a little bit different. And also, it’s who you’re in there with.”
Blake Monroe can tell a more serious story when the situation calls for it
Everyone wants to brag about how big and bad and cool they are. Monroe, however, is happy being herself until it’s time to get more serious. Monroe is also open to telling a more serious story when the situation calls for it, referring to her popular AEW feud with Toni Storm that culminated with the “Hollywood Ending.”
“So all these women in NXT have different backgrounds. And it’s so fun to play with that and be like, where did they come from? What did they bring to the table? How can we make this entertaining? And I think in a world where everybody’s like, ‘I’m so cool, I’m this, I’m that.’ I would rather just be myself and be larger than life. And then when the time comes to lock in and maybe tell a more lengthy, serious story, I know I can do it. I’ve done it before.”
Blake Monroe doesn’t need a title; she sees herself as valuable as one
Blake Monroe is constantly a source of drama on NXT television. When asked if she plans to stir the pot ahead of time, Monroe said she does that just by stepping in the ring. She can’t blame the NXT women’s roster for not being able to leave her alone. However, she is breathing a sigh of relief about Jaida Parker’s short absence due to injury.
“I always say that I don’t need a title because when you interrupt me, it’s like challenging for a championship. Because I’m the most talked about thing on the show. Whether it’s two minutes, whether it’s a championship match, whatever it is, I will be talked about. So that’s why all these women challenge me,” Blake Monroe explained.
“I think my biggest goal is to get through one week without Jada Parker assaulting me at the moment,” she added. “But I’m in a Speed tournament. Everybody’s like, ‘Why is she in the Speed tournament?’ You clearly never saw me in Japan. Because I was a high-speed wrestler and I want to show people what I can do. And since Jaida Parker’s in hospital, I’m safe. I’m safe for a week.”
Blake Monroe and Jaida Parker will meet face-to-face on Tuesday’s episode of NXT to preview their match at NXT Vengeance Day on March 7.
