Seth Rollins has once again addressed the shocking 2021 fan attack on WWE Raw. He explained why he chose forgiveness over pressing charges.
The incident took place on November 22, 2021, during Monday Night Raw at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York.
As Rollins walked up the ramp following a segment with Finn Balor, a (then) 24-year-old Elisah Spencer jumped the barricade and tackled him to the ground.
Security and officials quickly intervened, and Rollins later returned to the show despite suffering swelling to his lip.
Years later, the WWE star reflected on the moment during an appearance on the Club Shay Shay podcast when Shannon Sharpe asked why he didn’t pursue charges.
Seth Rollins Explains Decision Not To Press Charges
Rollins made it clear that the decision came after learning more about the attacker’s situation.
“From my understanding was, he was catfished by somebody pretending to be me. He was not all there. It felt like the wrong thing to do to try to get him incarcerated,” Rollins said.
Investigations revealed Spencer had allegedly fallen for a scam and lost out on approximately $3,000 in gift cards to someone posing as Rollins online. According to the WWE star, that context changed everything.
“I asked the judicial system… could we look into getting this guy some help?” Rollins explained. “It didn’t seem to me that pressing charges was going to solve the problem.”
The former World Champion also acknowledged how dangerous the situation could have been. “I’m lucky that he didn’t bring anything… particularly violent with,” he said, noting how frightening those moments can be for performers.
Instead of adding legal weight to an already troubled situation, Rollins chose what he believed was the better course of action — compassion over punishment.
In an industry built on settling scores inside the ring, this was one instance where The Visionary decided not to stomp the issue further.
