Bron Breakker’s sudden injury has cast doubt over his WrestleMania 42 status, but Bully Ray believes the setback could ultimately benefit the rising star.
Speaking on Busted Open Radio, Bully Ray suggested Breakker’s time away may create even greater momentum upon his return.
Bron Breakker underwent emergency surgery for a serious hernia in early February 2026.
Reports indicate the issue had lingered before worsening after his February 2 appearance on Raw, where he destroyed the announce table during an on-screen outburst.
While WWE initially framed the situation as part of storyline chaos, it was later confirmed that he required what has been described as a major operation. There is currently no timetable for his return.
The injury comes at a difficult moment. Breakker opened the year by challenging CM Punk for the WWE World Heavyweight Championship. He even became a frontrunner for winning the Men’s Royal Rumble.
Instead, he was eliminated after being blindsided during his entrance, and momentum stalled soon after.

Despite the timing, the two-time Hall of Famer pointed to wrestling history as evidence that time off can elevate a performer. “If there’s one thing that I have seen in wrestling… when guys do get injured… sometimes it works out really, really well,” he said. “Because absence makes the heart grow fonder.”
He added that surprise returns often generate explosive reactions. “They bring you back, and people are like ‘Holy s**t! He’s back!’ And you wind up doing better than where you were in the first place.”
WrestleMania 42 in Las Vegas appears increasingly unlikely for Breakker, with backstage expectations suggesting he could miss the event.
Still, if Bully Ray’s theory holds, Breakker’s comeback pop might hit harder than a Steiner-line — proving sometimes the long game is the main event.
