AEW Dynamite gave its fans a big surprise on this week’s episode when the mystery “Wild Card” team in the No. 1 Contender’s Match for the AEW World Tag Team Championships was finally revealed.
Before the show in Ontario, California, there was a lot of buzz. The Young Bucks had already earned their spot in the three-way match by beating GOA on AEW Collision. They were set to face The Rascalz and a mystery team, with the winners getting a future shot at FTR’s AEW World Tag Team Titles. Cash Wheeler and Dax Harwood are the current champions and record-tying three-time titleholders, so the stakes were high.
AEW has used the “Wild Card” idea before for surprise returns and debuts, so fans were expecting something massive. In the days leading up to the show, many people even speculated that Adam Copeland and Christian Cage might return, especially since they have unfinished business with FTR.
When it was finally time for the reveal, AEW didn’t disappoint.
Private Party Is Back, But Victory Evades Them
After The Rascalz and The Young Bucks made their entrances, the mystery team was announced as Private Party, Isiah Kassidy and Marq Quen. The crowd started chanting “Welcome Back” as the duo appeared for the first time in AEW since January 2025. Their last match had been a tag title loss to The Hurt Syndicate.
Because they had been gone for so long, some fans wondered if Private Party left AEW. Their return to Dynamite quickly shut down those rumors.
There is also a bit of history between Private Party and The Young Bucks. Early in AEW’s run, Kassidy and Quen beat Matt and Nick Jackson in a massive upset. They later won the AEW World Tag Team Titles in 2024 by defeating The Bucks again.
The match itself was fast and full of action. In the end, The Young Bucks took advantage of the chaos and pinned The Rascalz. Matt and Nick Jackson won and became the new No. 1 contenders for FTR’s championships.

After the match, things heated up. FTR came to the ring and confronted The Young Bucks. The argument quickly turned physical, and the Bucks hit both champions with superkicks.
