John Cena has had his fair share of controversial losses, but this one might just take the cake.
In late 2006, Cena found himself involved in a filler feud with Britney Spears’ then-husband, Kevin Federline (aka K-Fed). Federline appeared on the October 16, 2006, episode of WWE RAW, where he took an FU (also known as the Attitude Adjustment) from the then-top champion.
Kevin Federline resurfaced on RAW the following week. Despite K-Fed’s antics, John Cena secured the win over Johnny Nitro. The post-match segment saw Cena being attacked by the then-World Heavyweight Champion and ECW Champions, Booker T and The Big Show, as part of the build-up to Cyber Sunday 2006.
In the Cyber Sunday 2006 main event, Kevin Federline assisted Booker T to survive the triple threat against Cena and Show. He then appeared on RAW the next night to challenge Cena to a match on the first episode of RAW in 2007.

Cena ultimately faced Federline in a No Disqualification match on the first episode of WWE RAW of 2007. The outcome shocked fans as K-Fed scored a win over Cena following interference from Umaga and Johnny Nitro.
Cena later got his payback by hitting K-Fed with back-to-back FUs after their main event match. Reports at the time noted that Federline was well-received backstage due to his positive attitude.
John Cena went on to retain his WWE Championship against Umaga the following Sunday at New Year’s Revolution. He also defeated the Samoan Bulldozer in one of the most memorable non-Rumble matches at the 2007 Royal Rumble.
Britney Spears and Kevin Federline were married from 2004 to 2007. Spears filed for divorce from Federline on November 7, 2006, citing irreconcilable differences. The divorce was finalized on July 30, 2007.
After their split, Federline worked as a DJ and released a memoir in October 2025.
Spears continues to make headlines, including for getting out of her conservatorship, social media behavior, and her heated relationship with her family. Spears has also denied she is eyeing a comeback, effectively saying she is retired from the music industry.
