Maxxine Dupri Reflects on Going From Being Booed to Winning a WWE Title

Maxxine Dupri opens about her emotional journey from being heavily booed by fans to standing tall as a WWE Women’s Intercontinental Champion.

Speaking on The Wrestling Classic, Maxxine Dupri was asked about a difficult moment from a 2024 WWE live event, where she faced loud backlash from the crowd. This also included chants about her lack of wrestling ability.

She had received backstage support from several stars at the time. Despite that, she was asked how it felt to go from that moment to now, with fans firmly behind her and championship gold around her waist.

She said, “Thank you to my haters. Truthfully, that live event, specifically, that didn’t affect me personally. In the moment… When you’re new to this and you’re wrestling, I can’t hear anything. I’m trying to make sure that I just survive this match and do the best I can do.”

While the in-ring criticism didn’t shake her confidence, Dupri admitted that the negativity on social media was much harder to deal with. She described that period as a lesson and emphasized the importance of protecting her mental health.

She acknowledged that the online hate was challenging at times, but she also recognized it as part of the job. “I have my people that give me my criticism and I know the things that I truly do need to work on that I’m falling short in, and I will always hold myself accountable for that and put my nose down and keep grinding. It was very challenging for a period of time, but there’s pros and cons to everything and that’s just part of this job.” [H/T: WrestlingInc]
