MJF Implies AEW Critics Are In WWE’s Pocket

MJF believes journalists who refuse to acknowledge AEW‘s success are on a certain company’s payroll.

Speaking to Brandon Walker on Mostly Sports, new AEW World Champion MJF opened up about what he believes is a double standard in wrestling media. He noted that some journalists don’t give enough credit to All Elite Wrestling, irrespective of how good the company performs, saying it almost seems like they are looking for a “certain company’s” approval, possibly referring to WWE.

After making Brandon Walker agree that AEW has done a great job in 2025, MJF said, “Normally, journalists, no matter how many tickets we sell, no matter how many pay-per-view buys we get, no matter how many top acts we have, they’re not able to say what you just said. It’s almost as if they’re chasing a hug from a certain company.”

MJF Says He’s The First Person To Congratulate WWE When They Do Good Stuff

Speaking further, MJF also shared that when WWE does good stuff, he would be the first person to congratulate them. However, he pointed out that for some reason, some wrestling journalists fail to do the same for AEW. MJF said it’s almost as if they are in a “certain company’s” pocket, hinting at the ongoing conspiracy that critics are paid off by WWE.

“It’s odd. I can’t comprehend it. Because, when WWE does good stuff, fu*k it, I’m sitting here right now. I’m the first person to say congratulations and kudos. But for some reason, for some strange fuc*ing reason, it’s almost as if there’s certain journalists that are in a certain company’s pocket. It’s just odd,” MJF said.

MJF returned to AEW after a three-month hiatus on the December 17, 2025, episode of Dynamite. He invoked his Casino Gauntlet contract to add himself to the AEW World Championship match at World’s End this past Saturday, and went on to capture the title for the second time in his career.
