Current WWE Star Says She Pitched Doing A Divas Open Challenge

Chelsea Green wanted to revive the divas era in WWE.

WWE Women’s United States Champion Chelsea Green recently appeared on the INSIGHT with Chris Van Vliet podcast. During the conversation, she revealed that she tried hard to get WWE to agree to a custom Divas US Championship.

Chelsea Green noted that she also wanted to do a Divas Open Challenge, but she understands the hard work the previous generation of female WWE wrestlers put in to move away from the ‘Diva’ label.

“I asked. I really did try. I tried so hard. I wanted to do a Divas open challenge. I want to do the whole shebang, but I understand that the women before me, it’s fun for me, because I wasn’t a diva, but the women before me fought so hard to kind of end that stigma. I don’t know if bringing it back right now would do those women justice. Maybe in 10 years, maybe the girls from NXT can come up and do it in the future, but I will continue trying. I will keep pushing,” Green said.

Chelsea Green Says Social Media Helped Her Gainin Popularity In WWE

During a recent interview with Tudum by Netflix, Chelsea Green shared that interacting with fans on social media helped her a lot in growing her popularity, saying she wouldn’t know where she’d be without it.

“As a wrestler, we have goals. We set timelines for ourselves. Of course, one of the goals is always to be a WWE Champion.

“In 2023, I realized how personal it was to be able to interact with fans on social media. I’m able to curate my own narrative and storylines. Now that’s just who I am. I connect and further the message I want to get across. Social media is everything. I don’t know where I’d be without it,” Chelsea Green said.
