CM Punk is grateful for his connection with the fans, but he’s learned not to overthink it too much.
WWE World Heavyweight Champion CM Punk appeared on WGN News and opened up about his connection with the fans. He shared that he’s still amazed by how he resonates with the fans and that they see him for his authenticity.
“[I question it] all the time, I mean, I walk in the aisle at Madison Square Garden, I’m just like looking around and I’m like, ‘Man, what is my life? This is absolutely crazy.’ I try not to overanalyze it; I don’t want to self-paralyze myself. It is what it is.
“I think people, especially here in Chicago, see that I’m Midwest nice, I’m authentic. Sometimes, you know, first person in my pocket to help you out, or maybe punch you in the face, depending on how you treat other people or treat myself. I just think they see the authenticity,” Punk said.
CM Punk Recently Commented On How Close He Is To Retiring
After seeing legendary wrestlers like John Cena and AJ Styles announcing their retirements, CM Punk reflected on his own career.
Appearing in a behind-the-scenes vlog from WWE’s recent Australia and Japan tours, World Heavyweight Champion CM Punk stated that he plans to continue wrestling “until the wheels fall off,” which he believes could happen sooner than later.
“So, standing here now towards the end of my career, and John Cena is hanging it up, AJ Styles says he’s going to retire next year, I don’t know how long I’ve got,” CM Punk said. “I’m going to ride until the wheels fall off, and I assume that’s sooner than later. So it’s important for all of us, not just myself, to celebrate all the wrestlers as they retire.”
