Zaria claps back on social media.
Last Friday’s edition of WWE SmackDown featured a WWE Women’s Tag Team Championship match pitting Zaria and Sol Ruca against the reigning titleholders Alexa Bliss and Charlotte Flair. At one point, Bliss leaped off the ring apron with the intention of taking down Zaria with a hurricanrana. Instead, she was caught by Zaria, who awkwardly stumbled backward before rising back to her feet and swinging Bliss into the barricade.
It is still unknown if Bliss originally meant to fully execute her hurricanrana or if plans called for Zaria to cleanly catch Bliss, then slam her into the barricade. Nevertheless, Zaria asserts that the only thing that truly matters is how one picks themselves back up after their mistakes.
“Wrestling can get messy and that’s the beauty of it,” Zaria wrote to a fan accusing her of botching the move on X. “It’s how you recover and keep going that matters. Hope someone hugs you today, you sound like you need it.”
Bliss and Flair eventually picked up the win to retain their Women’s Tag Team Championships after “The Queen” locked Ruca in the Figure Eight, forcing her to tap out. Bliss and Flair claimed the titles at WWE SummerSlam by defeating Judgment Day’s Raquel Rodriguez and Roxanne Perez. Meanwhile, Ruca reigns as the WWE Women’s Speed and NXT Women’s North American Champion, all while chasing tag team gold with the Australian-born Zaria.
Elsewhere on SmackDown, a returning Ilja Dragunov dethroned Sami Zayn for the WWE United States Championship.
