Tommy Dreamer says Ash By Elegance’s current status isn’t a joking matter.
The former TNA Knockouts Champion announced that she had to step away from in-ring competition at TNA Victory Road. As a result, she had to vacate the Knockouts Championship, but she did not give a specific reason why she couldn’t compete.
This naturally led to speculation about her status, and Tommy Dreamer attempted to clarify the situation while respecting her privacy. Dreamer, who works in TNA’s talent relations and creative departments, said that Ash’s injury is not a work, and urged fans to stop speculating about it.
“She is no longer physically able to compete, per her statement and that’s it,” Dreamer said on Busted Open Radio (h/t Wrestling Inc). “There’s HIPAA laws involved and stuff like that. People shouldn’t speculate. If it’s a work, you’re not going to hand in your title.”
‘Card subject to change’ is a real thing
Dreamer went on to compare it to Seth Rollins’ worked injury, but said this isn’t the same thing.
“It sucks for her, because it was like she just hit the high of highs with her career, and it was off to the races,” Dreamer continued. “It was going to be the winner of her match faced Indi [Hartwell] to defend the title at [Bound for Glory] and everything has to change. ‘Card subject to change’ is a real thing.”
Despite the unexpected pivot, Dreamer praised new Knockouts Champion Kelani Jordan for her amazing performance.
This week’s Injury Report on Thursday’s episode of IMPACT featured a small update, noting Ash has an undisclosed injury. TNA’s Tom Hannifan also said her “medical details are being kept private at this time.”
