Chris Jericho Reveals Where His Iconic Catchphrase Came From

Chris Jericho has given fans some of the most iconic catchphrases in his legendary career.

Over his four-decade career, he has wrestled in major promotions like WCW, WWE, and AEW, becoming a multiple-time world champion. Beyond his titles, Jericho has left a lasting mark by creating memorable phrases that fans still repeat today.

Some of his most memorable catchphrases, includes Welcome to The Highlight Reel, Drink it in man, I am the best in the world at what I do, You’re going to get it, The List of Jericho, Stupid Idiot, The Demo God, Hi Guys, and Ass Clown and more.

Recently, in an interview with Bionic Buzz, Jericho explained the origin of the phrase ‘ass clown.’ He said it may have been inspired by the movie Office Space. He recalled that he likely came up with it by simply combining two silly words.

“Ass clown came from, there was a movie called Office Space. But I don’t know if I took that from the movie. I’m not saying they took it from me, but I seem to remember saying it just stringing two stupid words together, Ass Clown. So I didn’t steal it from Office Space. But subconsciously, maybe I heard it and didn’t realize it. But either way, either it was Office Space or Chris Jericho. So we’ll go with a combination of the two.” [H/T: Fightful]

Jericho has not appeared on AEW television since April. During his absence, he made headlines over his future with the company, as reports suggested his contract could expire at the end of the year, sparking speculation that he might return to WWE.
