Sheamus Claims He’s Responsible for the Greatest Match Stipulation Ever

Sheamus says he created the greatest match stipulation in WWE history.

Fans expect a hard hitting fight whenever Sheamus wrestles. In recent years, he has delivered big matches against Drew McIntyre, Gunther, Pete Dunne, and Ludwig Kaiser. Apart from putting great matches against his rival, he has also taken part in every Donnybrook match in WWE.

At WWE Clash in Paris, Sheamus faced Rusev in a Donnybrook Match, but the Bulgarian Brute won by submission. Despite the loss, fans praised Sheamus for helping make the stipulation so entertaining. The shared their admiration for the match stipulation and Sheamus responded on X, formerly known as Twitter.

He proudly said he created the idea, writing, “i created the greatest stip in pro wrestling history.. an Irish bar fight in a ring. Banger guaranteed.”

Sheamus reveals wild original pitch for his WWE debut

Sheamus debuted on WWE’s main roster in 2009 and, just months later, shocked fans by beating John Cena in a Tables match at TLC to win the WWE Championship. On Cheap Heat Live, Sheamus revealed that WWE originally had a different plan for his debut.

“I was getting information… kind of down the pipeline. There was something at one stage. I was supposed to go back for Christmas. I think I was there in FCW a year. And then all of a sudden, I was told, oh, I’m gonna debut with Finlay and Hornswoggle, who was in an angle with Mark Henry and Tony Atlas at the time. So I was like, ‘Oh sh*t, I better get ready for that’ and then that didn’t happen.”
