Speculation is running high about AJ Lee’s return after Becky Lynch attacked CM Punk at WWE Clash in Paris.
Reports revealed that WWE has recently discussed AJ Lee in several creative pitches. These ideas weren’t quickly shut down. However, a return isn’t confirmed, but it seems closer than at any time in the last decade.
On WWE RAW, Punk waited at the car entrance for Seth Rollins and Becky Lynch but learned they had already slipped in another way into the arena. Frustrated, he stormed to the ring and called out Rollins, but Becky showed up instead.
Fans chanted for “AJ Lee,” and Lynch snapped back, calling Lee a dope who doesn’t even work there. She said Punk wasn’t going anywhere and had to listen. She accused him of lying about her husband, reminded him of Rollins’ sacrifices, and said fans chanted Punk’s name during her matches, ignoring her hard work.
Punk fired back, saying fans chant his name whether he’s there or not, champion or not, and in every town. Seth Rollins then appeared on stage, laughing, and dared him to say what he had to his face. When Punk tried to leave, however, Becky Lynch blocked him, then punched and slapped him.
CM Punk warned Seth Rollins he’d regret cashing in on him, and told Becky Lynch she’d regret hitting him. She shrugged it off, mocking him saying she already regretted getting Punk’s sweat on her.
CM Punk drops hint about AJ Lee possibly returning on WWE SmackDown
CM Punk, frustrated after being humiliated by WWE Women’s Intercontinental Champion Becky Lynch, confronted General Manager Adam Pearce backstage. Pearce informed Punk that Seth Rollins and Becky had already left, but added that Rollins would be at RAW on Monday.
Still angry he couldn’t get his hands on Rollins, Punk asked where SmackDown would be held. When Pearce replied “Chicago,” Punk smirked and called it “tremendous.” While, Pearce questioned what he meant, sparking speculation that Punk may be hinting at AJ Lee’s return this Friday on WWE SmackDown in Chicago, Illinois.
