Former AEW Talent Is Now A Free Agent

Long-time TJPW mainstay Maki Itoh revealed on her Twitter that her contract with the promotion has expired. She mentioned that her final match as a part of the TJPW roster was at TJPW’s Korakuen Hall show this past Saturday, August 23. There, she competed against Yuki Arai in a losing effort.

In the post, she thanked Sanshiro Takagi, President of CyberFight, for taking a chance on her as a pro wrestler. Maki Itoh also thanked TJPW and the roster for nearly 9 years of her growth as a competitor. She ended her statement by promising that she will continue to wrestle from here on out.

TJPW also released their own statement on the matter on their official website. “Thank you very much for your continued support of Tokyo Joshi Pro Wrestling. Maki Itoh’s contract with Tokyo Joshi Pro Wrestling expired at the Korakuen Hall event on August 23, 2025. After much discussion with her, we have decided not to renew her contract, and we regret to inform you that this event will be her final appearance with Tokyo Joshi Pro Wrestling. We would like to express our sincere gratitude to all the fans who have supported Maki Itoh up to now, as well as to all those involved who have supported her,” they said.

Maki Itoh’s legacy in TJPW

Maki Itoh has long been one of the most significant members of the TJPW rosters. With various international appearances, she has helped bring foreign viewership to the promotion in the past few years. She is a former two-time International Princess Champion and a former two-time Princess Tag Team Champion. She won the tag titles both times with her 121000000 partner Miyu Yamashita. Itoh, however, was unable to capture the Princess of Princess Championship in her run in TJPW. Nonetheless, Itoh has made a major impact on TJPW being one of the most entertaining joshi promotions with her musical theatrics mixed with pro wrestling maneuvers.

Maki Itoh competed regularly for AEW between 2021 and 2023. Since then, she signed with TJPW, but continued to make appearances in the United States for promotions like GCW and MLW.

WrestleZone wishes Maki Itoh the best in her future plans as a wrestler post-TJPW.
