Bully Ray believes fans would welcome the idea of Vince McMahon facing John Cena in Cena’s final match.
Speaking on Busted Open Radio, Bully Ray reacted to McMahon’s recent appearance in TMZ’s Hulk Hogan documentary, his first major interview since leaving WWE in early 2024 amid serious allegations. Bully admitted it was emotional to see McMahon again, recalling how Vince had always treated him and D-Von well.
He suggested McMahon’s appearance, along with a brief shot in WWE’s Hogan tribute video, might be a deliberate move to ease him back into the spotlight. He even speculated about McMahon returning as the “Mr. McMahon” character, comparing his on-screen presence to Emperor Palpatine and calling him one of the greatest heels.
A caller pitched the idea of Vince McMahon showing up at John Cena’s final match in December. Bully Ray backed the suggestion, saying, “I think it’s a really good idea. It’s going to be a very emotional night… And Vince is the guy that gave John his opportunity.”
Bully explained that such a moment could let fans focus on the history and relationship between Cena and McMahon. “If Vince were to come out in that moment to give John his final farewell, I think the people would like to see that, or would embrace it, and maybe for that moment in time, forget about all of the things that are going on in, quote, unquote, real life with Vince. I think they could ride that wave of positivity.”
Bully Ray thinks WWE & TKO will be monitoring Vince McMahon’s return reaction
He added WWE and TKO will be watching closely. “The wrestling business is very calculated. I definitely think that the WWE and TKO will sit back and monitor social media tonight and tomorrow to see just what kind of response Vince McMahon got for being on this documentary.” [H/T: wrestlingnews.co]
John Cena is on his retirement tour and will face Logan Paul next at WWE Clash in Paris. Reports last month revealed that former WWE World Heavyweight Champion Gunther is lined up to be Cena’s final opponent in December.
