Speedball Mike Bailey Says AEW Gives Him Something He’s Never Had Before As A Wrestler

Speedball Mike Bailey says AEW gives him long-term storytelling he never had on the independent scene.

In an interview with That Hashtag Show, Bailey spoke about whether he has found the perfect “dance partner” in AEW. “I mean, yes and no, it was strange, because when I joined AWE, right, even my first show there, I felt at home. This felt like exactly what I wanted it to be. I know and have worked with most of the performers before even going there.”

He named Konosuke Takeshita and Will Ospreay as two of his greatest opponents, having faced them outside AEW as well. “I’ve had excellent matches with both of them outside of AEW. So, I mean, it’s not about finding the best dance partner for me right now, but it’s more about figuring out how that’s going to play out in AEW, right?”

“The thing that I’m the most excited about in AEW is really the long-term storytelling, because that’s something I’ve never really had access to as a professional wrestler, doing most of my career in the independence or other promotions that had stories, but nowhere to level that people follow the stories and pay attention to the details like they do in AEW.”

While he’s confident he can have great matches with many wrestlers. Bailey looks forward to building on-screen relationships over several years. However, he noted he started to build that relationship with Ricochet. “I think I’m starting to develop that with Ricochet. I’m really enjoying the, the relationship that we have right now and that he is a pure Speedball Mike Bailey hater, just to the bone.”
