  • Grudge Match: MJF vs. Mark Briscoe
  • Forbidden Door TBS Championship Qualifier: Queen Aminata vs. Skye Blue vs. Alex Windsor vs. Billie Starkz
  • Jon Moxley vs. “Speedball” Mike Bailey
  • The return of TBS Champion Mercedes Moné
  • We’ll hear from TNT Champion Kyle Fletcher

AEW Dynamite Results:

This week’s episode of Dynamite kicks off with a promo backstage from MJF hyping up his match tonight against Mark Briscoe and blaming Hangman Page for what happens to his opponent tonight. Friedman says Briscoe isn’t a professional wrestler or an athlete, calling him white trash who got lucky. MJF says he’ll see Briscoe tonight in the main event.

Jon Moxley (w/ Wheeler Yuta and Marina Shafir) vs. “Speedball” Mike Bailey (w/ Kevin Knight)

  • The finish of the match saw Jon Moxley hit Mike Bailey with the Death Rider to score the pinfall victory.

Winner: Jon Moxley

Grade: A-

This was a great match. I think it wouldn’t have hurt Mox one bit to lose this match, but it is what it is. A fantastic showing from Speedball, and I hope his stock continues to rise in AEW in the months ahead.

Toni Storm has timeless innuendos

Toni Storm and Alex Windsor are backstage with Renee Paquette. Alex Windsor is trying to hype up her four-way match tonight. But Toni Storm is doing things only she can get away with. Hilarious segment, you can check it out in the embedded video below.

Out in the parking lot, Jon Moxley and Marina Shafir find Wheeler Yuta in a white body bag. They get him out of the way before Darby Allin can run him over. They get Yuta out of the bag, and there’s a nose on his face that says “Forbidden Door.” Obviously, the challenge has been set.

Earlier in the day, Renee Paquette interviewed Mercedes Moné as she arrived at the venue. Paquette puts over her match with Toni Storm at All In: Texas. Mercedes tells Renee not to be such a mark and laughs before walking away.

Forbidden Door TBS Championship Qualifier: Queen Aminata vs. Skye Blue vs. Alex Windsor (w/ Toni Storm) vs. Billie Starkz (w/ Athena)

  • The finish of the match saw Alex Windsor catch Billie Starkz with a small package to score the pinfall victory.

Winner: Alex Windsor

After the match, Mercedes Moné makes her way to the ring and faces off with Windsor. This allows Athena to sneak attack Storm and hit her with the O-Face. Mercedes lays out Windsor and has a face-off with Athena before they both walk away without physicality.

Grade: B+

Very fun four-way. The crowd was really into this match. All four women got a chance to shine throughout this match. Windsor has been getting a substantial push since her debut, and her work overseas is well known, so it’s no surprise she gets a spot in this match at Forbidden Door.

The Young Bucks want your respect!

Renee Paquette was backstage with the Young Bucks earlier in the day. Matt and Nick were very upset about how they had been presented in recent weeks and yelled at a backstage guy, making it very clear what they wanted for their entrance later tonight against Brodido.

Paquette is now in the ring and brings out the TNT Champion Kyle Fletcher and the rest of the Don Callis Family. Callis says he’s building the largest faction in the history of professional wrestling because he wants power and gold. Callis puts over what Okada has done and what Fletcher did last week to Dustin Rhodes.

The crowd chants, “F*ck Don Callis!” Kyle Fletcher says Dustin Rhodes got exactly what he deserved for stealing his moment at All In. Fletcher takes credit for putting Rhodes and Adam Cole on the shelf and says this is only the beginning of his legacy. Fletcher declares he will become the greatest TNT Champion of all time.

Don Callis says he knows Fletcher will be the greatest TNT Champion of all time, and when you’re truly great, they immortalize you with art. Callis reveals a new Mel Coleman painting featuring Fletcher and Callis in a very interesting state of dress.

Fletcher declares he will make his first TNT Title defense this Saturday on Collision and says he will be the TNT Champion for a very long time.

Adam Copeland has a hilarious match next week

Alicia Atout is backstage with Adam Copeland. Cope says Christian showed zero remorse last week and has proven he learned nothing and that he’s an asshole. Copeland says Cage has his hands full, and so does he. Copeland reveals he spoke with Tony Khan and got a match next week against Stokely Hathaway. If FTR interferes, their restraining order is null in void.

AEW World Tag Team Title Eliminator Semi-Finals Matchup: Young Bucks vs. Brodido

  • The finish of the match saw Brodido hit the kick flip double team move on Matt Jackson. Bandido scored the pinfall victory for his team.

Winners: Brodido

Grade: A

This was a fantastic tag match. As was all the pre-match entrance stuff with the Young Bucks. The entire tournament has been a delight so far. The finals should be excellent, and if recent reports should be believed, it’s time for the winners to take the titles off The Hurt Syndicate and move forward with the tag team division. But we’ll know those answers in due time.

A video package plays for tonight’s main event between MJF and Mark Briscoe.

The Hurt Syndicate is backstage with Renee Paquette. MVP puts over Brodido’s big win and says no matter who they face at Forbidden Door, they’ll be more than happy to hurt them. MJF comes in, and Lashley and Benjamin leave. MVP says The Hurt Syndicate’s slogan is we hurt people, but since MJF joined, it’s all been about him.

MVP gives MJF the final thumbs down and tells him he hopes he fails at his endeavor to win the World Title because if he does, Lashley will be coming after him, and it won’t be business, it will be very personal.

FTR and Stokely Hathaway are backstage with Alicia Atout. Dax Harwood says he sees exactly what Copeland is doing, and they put the restraining order in for his benefit. Cash Wheeler says he can’t be responsible for what Hathaway does to Cope next week. Hathaway says some hilarious things that have to be heard to be believed. So yeah… just check it out for yourself in the video below.

A video package plays hyping the Forbidden Door match between Kazuchika Okada and Swerve Strickland.

Whose house…?

Renee Paquette is on the stage and brings out Swerve Strickland and Prince Nana. Swerve Strickland isn’t worried about Don Callis because he can’t be at ringside in a Unified Title match. Strickland says last year at Forbidden Door, he had to put someone down who is near and dear to him, in Will Ospreay, and if he did that to him, what do you think he’s going to do to Okada? Strickland says he’s something that’s never been seen before.

Swerve says Okada has come after him on three different occasions, and when he looked into his eyes, he saw nothing. Strickland talks about his bad luck in London but plans to change that and become the next AEW Unified Champion.

Mark Briscoe is backstage hyping up his match tonight with MJF. It’s brought up that if Briscoe wins tonight, he might be in line for an AEW World Title shot. Hangman Page comes in and puts Briscoe over and says he would love to give him a title shot if he won tonight.

Willow Nightingale and Queen Aminata are backstage with Renee Paquette. Kris Statlander comes in and seemingly tries to make peace with Nightingale. It appears that some progress was made, but I’m not 100% certain based on Willow’s reaction at the end.

MJF vs. Mark Briscoe

  • The finish of the match saw MJF hit Mark Briscoe with the Heatseeker to score the pinfall victory. Briscoe’s foot was on the ropes, but the referee didn’t see it.

Winner: MJF

Grade: A-

After the match, MJF continues to attack Briscoe and hits him with the Dynamite Diamond Ring. This brings out Hangman Page, who brawls with MJF at ringside and through the crowd as AEW Dynamite goes off the air.

AEW Dynamite Review:

This was a fantastic episode of Dynamite tonight. A lot of great matches and a continued build towards Forbidden Door have been well done despite the difficulty of being able to utilize anyone from the New Japan side of things due to the G1.

I think the general AEW audience might actually prefer this anyway, but we’ll find out soon enough.

Grade: A-
